We pay
for maternity
treatment and
childbirth after the mother has been a member of this plan for
10 months, including: · hospital charges, obstetricians' and midwives' fees for normal or complicated childbirth · midwife or other specialists' fees for childbirth at home · post-natal care required by the mother immediately following normal childbirth, such as stitches · secondary conditions brought about by pregnancy such as backache, high blood pressure, vaginal bleeding, nausea and vomiting · up to seven days' routine care for the baby. The following complications are covered the same as any other medical condition, so the rules and limits for the maternity benefits do not apply. · delivering a baby by caesarean section when medically essential, provided the mother has been a member of this plan for at least 10 months before the delivery. · non progression during labour leading to emergency caesarian section (eg dystocia, foetal distress, haemorrhage), provided the mother has been a member of this plan for at least 10 months before the delivery · miscarriage or when the foetus has died and remains with the placenta in the womb · stillbirth · abnormal cell growth in the womb (hydatidform mole) · foetus growing outside the womb (ectopic pregnancy) · heavy bleeding in the hours and days immediately after childbirth (post-partum haemorrhage) · afterbirth left in the womb after delivery of the baby (retained placental membrane) · complications following any of the above conditions. We do not pay for treatment directly related to surrogacy. We will not pay maternity benefits: · to you if you act as a surrogate, or · to anyone else acting as a surrogate for you. We do not pay for treatment received as an out-patient before or after the birth unless you have bought the Worldwide Medical Plus option. Please read 'Adding members to your plan' section. |
